Recommended Tools
These are tools and services I genuinely use in my daily analysis and paper trading. Every recommendation includes why I use it and what stands out. No paid placements — just things that actually work.
💡 How to use referral links
Option 1 (Recommended): Click the "Sign Up via Link" button under each platform. Referral is auto-bound — no manual code entry needed.
Option 2 (Backup): If the link doesn't open, manually enter the referral code on the registration page. You get the same benefits.
All referral codes are listed on each card. Click "Copy Code" to copy instantly.
Exchanges
Exchanges are the infrastructure of crypto trading. Why multiple exchanges? Different exchanges have different listing speeds, liquidity depth, and fee structures. Binance has the deepest liquidity. OKX has the best Chinese UX. Bybit has the most intuitive derivatives UI. Gate.io lists the widest range of altcoins. Multi-exchange positioning lets you capture opportunities across the entire market.
Binance — World's Largest Exchange
EssentialBinance has the deepest order book globally — minimal slippage when executing at key price action levels. Supports sub-accounts for separating live trading, paper trading, and long-term holdings. Referral link gives you 20% spot / 10% futures fee rebate.
OKX — Best for Chinese-Speaking Users
RecommendedOKX web and mobile apps are extremely friendly to Chinese-speaking users. The unified account mode lets you trade spot, futures, and options from a single margin pool. Copy trading is well-developed — great for learning-phase users.
Bybit — Best for Derivatives Trading
DerivativesBybit's futures UI is the most intuitive for price action traders — clean K-line charts, easy SL/TP setting. Supports credit card, P2P, and cross-chain bridge for deposits. Bybit Learn offers free education from beginner to advanced.
Gate.io — Altcoin Discovery Hub
AltcoinsGate.io lists far more tokens than Binance and OKX — many low-cap tokens list here first. Listing review is relatively lenient, so do your own research (DYOR). Liquidity on small caps can be thin — only use amounts you can afford to lose.
Trading Tools
Good charting tools make your analysis sharper. Why a dedicated charting platform? Built-in exchange charts are too basic for price action analysis. TradingView is the industry standard — used by every professional trader I know. Multi-timeframe analysis, custom indicators, real-time alerts — it's indispensable.
TradingView — The Standard Charting Platform
EssentialEvery price action chart on this site was created with TradingView. Chart rendering quality and data accuracy are both industry-leading. Supports custom annotations (lines, text, shapes) — perfect for documenting Al Brooks price action concepts. The free tier is sufficient for most individual traders.
Hardware Wallets
"Not your keys, not your crypto." This is the golden rule. Coins on an exchange are essentially an IOU. If the exchange gets hacked or runs, your assets could vanish. A hardware wallet lets you truly own your assets — essential for long-term holders.
Ledger — Industry-Standard Hardware Wallet
SecurityPrivate keys never leave the device. All signing happens inside the hardware — even if your computer is compromised, keys stay safe. Ledger Live supports 5,500+ tokens for send/receive/stake. Always buy from official channels. Never share your recovery phrase with anyone — not even Ledger support.
Quant Trading Tools
Quant tools execute repetitive strategies so you don't have to watch the screen 24/7. Who are these for? Traders with some experience who understand basic concepts (grid, DCA, TP/SL) but lack the time or coding skills to build their own bots. If you're a complete beginner, trade manually first to understand the logic before using quant tools.
3Commas — Most Comprehensive Quant Platform
ComprehensiveSupports Grid Bots, DCA Bots, and Smart Trading Terminal. Connects to 18+ exchanges (Binance, OKX, Bybit, etc.) from a single account. Copy trading lets you follow successful traders. Start with small amounts and low leverage for testing.
Bitsgap — Best for Grid Trading
Grid ExpertBitsgap's grid bot setup is intuitive — choose "Smart Grid" (AI auto-calculates parameters) or set grid density and price range manually. Supports strategy backtesting. Connects to 25+ exchanges. The Basic plan ($19/month) supports 2 active bots — enough for most individuals.
Coinrule — No-Code Quant Strategies
No-CodeCoinrule uses simple If-Then logic — no coding required. Provides strategy templates like "Buy the Dip" and "Trailing Take Profit." Supports 10+ exchanges including Binance and Coinbase. The interface is clean and beginner-friendly.
Cryptohopper — Cloud-Based Automated Trading
Cloud-BasedAll bots run 24/7 in the cloud — no need to keep your PC on. Has a strategy marketplace where you can buy strategies from other traders. Supports 130+ technical indicators and connects to 17+ exchanges including Binance and OKX.
Tax Tools
If you have tax filing obligations in Western countries, crypto tax software is essential. Different countries treat crypto differently (capital gains tax, income tax, etc.), and manual calculation is tedious and error-prone. These tools auto-sync exchange and wallet data to generate compliant tax reports.
Koinly — Crypto Tax Calculator
TaxKoinly supports auto-sync from 350+ exchanges and 40+ wallets. Generates tax reports compliant with local laws in 100+ countries (e.g., Form 8949 in the US, Capital Gains Summary in the UK). Supports FIFO, LIFO, HIFO cost basis methods. Primarily for users with tax obligations in Western jurisdictions.
